Description
Ingredients:
- Water
- Milk (or any milk of your choice)
- Black tea leaves (such as Assam or Darjeeling)
- Sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
- Green cardamom pods (crushed)
- Fresh ginger (sliced or grated)
- Cinnamon stick (optional)
- Cloves (optional)
- Black pepper (optional, for a little heat)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Ingredients: Lightly crush the cardamom pods using a mortar and pestle to release their oils. Slice or grate the fresh ginger into small pieces to release its aromatic flavors.
- Boil Water and Spices: In a saucepan, add the water, crushed cardamom, sliced ginger, and any optional spices like cinnamon, cloves, or black pepper. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes to allow the spices to infuse.
- Add Tea and Milk: Once the water has simmered with the spices, add the tea leaves and milk. Stir the mixture and bring it to a boil again. Keep an eye on it as the milk may froth up.
- Simmer and Strain: Once the tea has brewed to your desired strength 15 minutes), lower the heat and let it simmer for another 3 minutes, ensuring all the flavors are well-blended.
- Strain and Serve: Strain the tea into a traditional kullhad (clay cup) or any mug, discarding the tea leaves and spices.
- Sweeten (Optional): Add sugar to taste and stir until dissolved. Serve hot and enjoy!
